Buccaneers Introduce New Seating At Raymond James Stadium
Starting this upcoming season, fellow BUCS fans will have even more seating options during home games. The Buccaneers have added a new section to increase the number of fans and subsequently the level of noise and excitement in the endzone.
The new section, named “The Krewe’s Nest”, looks to occupy what used to be the south end zone’s concessions stands that included the Captain’s Grill and The Galley. For those unaware, the name is a play on “crow’s nest”, the barrel or basket where one pirate would be stationed to help navigate the ship as well as watch for enemies. In a sense, the name may have been a better fit for those sitting in the nosebleeds of Section 300.
While the exact number of seats being added is unknown at the time of this writing, a guesstimate of around 3,600 additional fans would be able to join the raucous crowd this season. That would bring the stadium capacity to almost 70, 000. The Buccaneers would move up the ranks of the NFL’s largest capacity crowds from 24th to 13th putting them right behind NFL South division rival Atlanta Falcons.
While the addition of new seating is exciting, it does come with a few head-scratching decisions. The biggest of which comes with the pricing for the new section. In order to procure one of these brand new seats, it’s going to cost $2,700 per season ticket. Comparatively, two season tickets in the North endzone would be $785 less expensive.
The new seating is a welcomed sight for newer fans looking to catch a glimpse of the BUCS and a bit of an inconvenience for more experienced and frugal fans. Fans who were used to purchasing tickets in the upper deck and then utilizing the now-defunct Party Deck as a standing-room-only area will now have to find a new place to watch from if they don’t want to sit in their assigned seats.
Hopefully, these seats bring more noise and energy from BUCS fans rather than serve as an invitation for more visiting fans to take over the stadium.
Update: The Buccaneers have confirmed 3,600 additional seats being added. 1,000 fewer than my initial guesstimate.
